Fybogel Hi-Fibre Orange – 30 Sachets
Fybogel Hi-Fibre Orange is a pleasant-tasting orange-flavoured drink used to treat constipation and to help maintain regular bowel movements. It is a gentle, effective way to increase the amount of fibre in your diet when you are not getting enough through food alone.
⸻
How It Works
Fybogel contains ispaghula husk, a natural plant fibre that swells when it absorbs water in your gut. This helps to bulk up your stools, making them softer and easier to pass, and encourages your bowel to move waste along more naturally.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 and over should take one sachet dissolved in 150 ml (approximately half a glass) of cold water, twice a day — ideally after meals. Stir well and drink immediately. It is important to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day while taking this product. For children under 12, seek advice from a doctor or your PillSorted pharmacist before use. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Ispaghula husk 3.5 g per sachet
⸻
Possible Side Effects
• Bloating or wind, particularly when you first start taking the product
• Stomach discomfort or cramps
• Feeling full or an uncomfortable sensation in the abdomen
• Allergic reactions (rare) — including skin rash, itching, or difficulty breathing
• Blockage of the gut (very rare) — especially if taken without enough fluid
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• People who have difficulty swallowing
• People with a narrowing or blockage of the bowel or oesophagus
• People who are unable to drink adequate amounts of fluid
• People who have a sudden change in bowel habit lasting more than two weeks without seeing a doctor
• Anyone with a known allergy to ispaghula husk or any other ingredient in this product
• Children under 6 years of age
⸻
Interactions
Ispaghula husk may reduce the absorption of some medicines if taken at the same time. It is recommended to take other medicines at least 30 to 60 minutes before taking Fybogel, or to allow a suitable gap after taking it. This may be particularly relevant for medicines such as warfarin, digoxin, and certain diabetes medications. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Fybogel Hi-Fibre Orange is generally considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as ispaghula husk is not significantly absorbed into the body. However, it is always best to seek individual advice before taking any medicine during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Fybogel Hi-Fibre Orange and alcohol. However, alcohol can contribute to dehydration, and staying well hydrated is important when taking this product for it to work effectively.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Fybogel Hi-Fibre Orange does not contain any ingredients known to cause drowsiness or impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. It is safe to drive and carry out normal daily activities while taking this product.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the sachets in their original packaging until ready to use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
