How It Works
Gaviscon Infant contains two types of alginate (sodium alginate and magnesium alginate), which work together when mixed with the baby’s feed. Once swallowed, they form a soft, stable gel that sits on top of the stomach contents, acting as a protective barrier to help prevent milk or food from coming back up into the oesophagus.
⸻
Directions for Use
Gaviscon Infant is suitable for infants and young children. The dose depends on the child’s weight and feeding method (breast or bottle), and each sachet contains two doses for smaller infants. For bottle-fed infants weighing under 4.5 kg, use half a sachet mixed with a small amount of cooled, boiled water or feed; for those over 4.5 kg, use one sachet. For breastfed infants, the dose should be mixed with a small amount of cooled, boiled water and given by spoon before or after each feed. Do not use in infants under 1 year of age without specific medical advice, and do not use for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

• Infants already receiving thickened feeds or other antacid preparations
