    Description

Panadol Extra Soluble – 24 Tablets

Panadol Extra Soluble tablets are a fast-acting, effervescent pain reliever containing paracetamol and caffeine, used to treat everyday aches and pains including headaches, migraine, toothache, period pain, and general aches. Being soluble, they dissolve in water — making them ideal for people who find swallowing tablets difficult.

    How It Works

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for sending pain signals and causing fever. The added caffeine helps to enhance the pain-relieving effect of paracetamol, making this combination more effective than paracetamol alone for some types of pain.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 and over: dissolve 2 tablets in a glass of water and drink. This dose may be repeated every 4 hours if needed. Do not take more than 8 tablets (4 doses) in any 24-hour period. Do not give to children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 500 mg per tablet
    • Caffeine 65 mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

Panadol Extra Soluble is generally well tolerated when taken as directed. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
    • Skin rash or allergic reactions
    • Nausea or stomach discomfort
    • Restlessness, difficulty sleeping, or irritability (due to caffeine content)
    • Blood disorders (very rare, with prolonged use at high doses)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not take Panadol Extra Soluble if you:
    • Are allergic to paracetamol, caffeine, or any other ingredient in the product
    • Are already taking other medicines containing paracetamol
    • Have severe liver or kidney disease
    • Are under 16 years of age
    • Are sensitive to caffeine or have been advised to avoid it

    Interactions

Panadol Extra Soluble may interact with other medicines, including warfarin (and other blood-thinning medicines), metoclopramide, domperidone, cholestyramine, and other products containing paracetamol or caffeine. Taking more than one paracetamol-containing product at the same time can lead to serious overdose. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Paracetamol is generally considered the pain reliever of choice during pregnancy when used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time. However, this product also contains caffeine, and high caffeine intake during pregnancy is not recommended. Paracetamol passes into breast milk in small amounts and is generally considered safe during breastfeeding when used as directed. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol while taking paracetamol-containing products, particularly if you drink regularly or in large amounts, as this can increase the risk of liver damage. If you regularly drink alcohol, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor before taking this medicine.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Panadol Extra Soluble does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, the caffeine content may occasionally cause restlessness or anxiety in some individuals, which could affect concentration. If you feel any effects that impair your ability to drive safely, do not drive.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
