Description
Panadol Advance 500mg – 30 Tablets
Panadol Advance 500mg tablets contain paracetamol and are used to relieve mild to moderate pain, including headaches, toothache, menstrual pain, and cold and flu symptoms. They are suitable for adults and children aged 10 and over.
⸻
How It Works
Panadol Advance tablets contain paracetamol, which works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that signal pain and raise body temperature. These tablets are specially formulated to dissolve and be absorbed into the bloodstream more quickly than standard paracetamol tablets, helping to bring faster relief from pain and fever.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 16 and over: take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 4 doses (8 tablets) in 24 hours. Children aged 10–15: take 1 tablet every 4–6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 4 doses (4 tablets) in 24 hours. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not take more than the recommended dose and leave at least 4 hours between doses. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Paracetamol 500mg per tablet
⸻
Possible Side Effects
Paracetamol is generally well tolerated when taken as directed. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
• Skin rash or allergic reactions
• Redness or swelling of the skin
• Low blood pressure (if given intravenously — not applicable to oral tablets)
• Rarely, blood disorders or liver and kidney problems with prolonged overuse
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
Do not take Panadol Advance if you:
• Are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in the tablet
• Already take other medicines containing paracetamol
• Have severe liver or kidney problems
• Are under 10 years of age
⸻
Interactions
Paracetamol can interact with several medicines, including warfarin and other anticoagulants (blood thinners), medicines for epilepsy (such as carbamazepine and phenytoin), and medicines for tuberculosis (such as rifampicin). Taking other products that contain paracetamol at the same time can lead to an accidental overdose — always check labels carefully. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Paracetamol is generally considered the first-choice painkiller during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. However, you should always seek guidance before use during pregnancy, especially in the later stages. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
You should be cautious about drinking alcohol while taking paracetamol, particularly if you drink regularly or in large amounts, as this can increase the risk of liver damage. Occasional moderate drinking is unlikely to cause problems, but it is best to avoid alcohol if you are unwell.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Panadol Advance tablets do not cause drowsiness and are not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you feel unwell due to the condition you are treating, use your own judgement before driving.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
