Description
Panadol Advance 500mg – 16 Tablets
Panadol Advance 500mg tablets contain paracetamol, a well-known and trusted pain reliever and fever reducer. They are used to relieve mild to moderate pain — including headaches, toothache, period pain, backache, and cold and flu symptoms — and to reduce a high temperature.
⸻
How It Works
Panadol Advance tablets contain paracetamol, which works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins that cause pain and fever. What makes Panadol Advance different from standard paracetamol tablets is its unique formulation, which allows the active ingredient to be absorbed into the bloodstream more quickly, so it can start relieving pain faster.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 16 and over: Take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 8 tablets (4,000mg paracetamol) in any 24-hour period. Children aged 10–15 years: Take 1 tablet every 4–6 hours as needed, with no more than 4 tablets in 24 hours. Do not give to children under 10 years of age. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Paracetamol 500mg per tablet
⸻
Possible Side Effects
Paracetamol is generally well tolerated when taken as directed. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
• Allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching
• Low blood pressure or flushing (in rare cases with intravenous forms — not applicable here)
• Blood disorders (very rare, such as thrombocytopenia or agranulocytosis)
• Liver or kidney problems if taken in excess of the recommended dose
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
Do not take Panadol Advance tablets if:
• You are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in this product
• You already take other medicines containing paracetamol
• You have severe liver or kidney disease
• You weigh less than 50kg (consult a doctor or pharmacist for appropriate dosing)
• You regularly drink large amounts of alcohol
• You are under 10 years of age
⸻
Interactions
Paracetamol can interact with certain medicines, including warfarin and other anticoagulants (blood thinners), some epilepsy medicines (such as carbamazepine and phenytoin), and medicines used to treat tuberculosis (such as isoniazid). Taking other products that contain paracetamol at the same time can lead to an accidental overdose, so always check labels carefully. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Paracetamol has been used for many years during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding and is generally considered safe when taken at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed. However, it should only be used when necessary. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
You should avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol while taking paracetamol, as this combination can increase the risk of liver damage. Occasional, moderate alcohol consumption is unlikely to cause harm, but if you regularly drink alcohol, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist before taking this medicine.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Panadol Advance tablets do not contain any ingredients known to cause drowsiness or impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. You should be safe to drive and carry out other tasks whilst taking this medicine as directed.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the tablets in their original packaging. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
