Description
Optrex Hayfever Eye Drops – 10ml
Optrex Hayfever Eye Drops contain sodium cromoglicate, an anti-allergy medicine specifically formulated to relieve itchy, red, and watery eyes caused by hayfever and other airborne allergens such as pollen, dust, and pet dander.
⸻
How It Works
The active ingredient, sodium cromoglicate, works as a mast cell stabiliser. It prevents the cells in your eyes from releasing histamine and other chemicals that trigger allergic reactions, helping to calm irritation and reduce redness, itching, and watering before or after exposure to allergens.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 6 years and over: apply 1–2 drops into each affected eye, up to four times daily. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and apply the drops. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle to your eye or any other surface. Remove contact lenses before use and wait at least 30 minutes before reinserting them. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻

• Children under 6 years of age

• People with severe eye infections or inflammation not related to allergy — consult a doctor before use

⸻
Interactions
Optrex Hayfever Eye Drops are applied topically to the eye, so the risk of significant systemic drug interactions is low. However, if you are using any other eye drops or eye preparations, allow at least 5 minutes between applying each product. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
There is limited data on the use of sodium cromoglicate eye drops during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Although topical use results in minimal systemic absorption, caution is advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Optrex Hayfever Eye Drops and alcohol. As these drops are applied directly to the eye and systemic absorption is minimal, alcohol is not expected to affect their safety or efficacy.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Optrex Hayfever Eye Drops may cause temporary blurring of vision immediately after application. You should wait until your vision is completely clear before driving or operating machinery. This product does not cause drowsiness.
⸻
