How It Works
The active ingredient, ibuprofen, belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain, swelling, and fever. This helps to relieve discomfort and bring down a high temperature.
⸻
Directions for Use
The suspension is given by mouth using the syringe or measuring device provided. Doses are based on the child’s age and weight — always use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed. As a general guide:
• 3–5 months (weighing over 5 kg): 2.5 ml, up to 3 times in 24 hours
• 6–23 months: 2.5 ml, up to 3 times in 24 hours
• 2–3 years: 5 ml, up to 3 times in 24 hours
• 4–6 years: 7.5 ml, up to 3 times in 24 hours
• 7–9 years: 10 ml, up to 3 times in 24 hours
• 10–12 years: 15 ml, up to 3 times in 24 hours
Do not give more than 3 doses in 24 hours. Leave at least 6–8 hours between doses. Do not use for more than 3 days for fever or more than 3 days for pain without medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
