How It Works
Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the production of prostaglandins — natural chemicals in the body that cause pain, swelling, and fever. The prolonged-release capsule is specially designed to slowly release ibuprofen over an extended period, providing longer-lasting relief compared to standard ibuprofen tablets.
⸻
Directions for Use
Nurofen Long Lasting Pain Relief PR 300mg Capsules are for adults and young people aged 12 years and over. The recommended dose is 2 capsules (600mg ibuprofen) two to three times a day, swallowed whole with water — do not crush or chew. Doses should be taken at least 8 hours apart, and the maximum daily dose is 1,200mg (4 capsules) in 24 hours. These capsules should be taken with or after food to reduce the chance of stomach upset. Do not take for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Taking ibuprofen alongside other NSAIDs or corticosteroids increases the risk of gastrointestinal side effects. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Ibuprofen should not be taken during the third trimester of pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. Use during the first and second trimesters should be avoided unless advised by a doctor, as it may affect the baby’s development. Ibuprofen passes into breast milk in small amounts and is generally not recommended during breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol whilst taking ibuprofen may increase the risk of stomach irritation and gastrointestinal bleeding. It is advisable to avoid or limit alcohol consumption whilst using this medicine. If you regularly drink alcohol or are unsure whether it is safe to do so, consult your PillSorted pharmacist for guidance.
