    Description

    Night Nurse Liquid – 160ml

Night Nurse Liquid is a night-time cold and flu remedy designed to relieve a range of symptoms so you can get a good night’s rest. It helps with coughs, sore throat pain, headaches, fever, and nasal congestion while also helping you to sleep.

    How It Works

Night Nurse Liquid contains three active ingredients that work together to tackle cold and flu symptoms. Paracetamol reduces fever and relieves pain such as headaches and sore throat discomfort. Dextromethorphan hydrobromide suppresses the cough reflex to ease a dry, irritating cough. Promethazine hydrochloride is an antihistamine that helps to dry up a runny nose and has a calming, sedative effect to help you sleep.

    Directions for Use

Night Nurse Liquid is for adults and children aged 16 and over. The recommended dose is 20 ml taken at bedtime. Do not take more than one dose in 24 hours. Use the measuring cup provided to measure the dose accurately. Do not take for more than 5 nights without seeking medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    Each 20 ml dose contains:
    • Paracetamol 1000 mg
    • Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 15 mg
    • Promethazine hydrochloride 20 mg

    Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, Night Nurse Liquid can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them:
    • Drowsiness or sedation (this is expected and intended at night)
    • Dizziness or feeling lightheaded
    • Dry mouth, nose, or throat
    • Blurred vision
    • Difficulty passing urine
    • Nausea or stomach upset
    • Skin reactions or rash
    • Restlessness or excitability (more common in some people)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not take Night Nurse Liquid if you:
    • Are under 16 years of age
    • Are allergic to paracetamol, dextromethorphan, promethazine, or any other ingredient in this product
    • Have severe liver or kidney problems
    • Are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) within the last 14 days
    • Are taking other medicines containing paracetamol
    • Have epilepsy or a seizure disorder
    • Have glaucoma (raised pressure in the eye)
    • Have difficulty passing urine due to an enlarged prostate
    • Have a chronic productive cough or conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

    Interactions

Night Nurse Liquid may interact with several other medicines. It can enhance the sedative effects of sleeping tablets, anti-anxiety medicines, antidepressants, and other antihistamines. It should not be taken with other medicines containing paracetamol or with MAOIs. Dextromethorphan can interact with certain antidepressants (such as SSRIs and SNRIs), increasing the risk of a serious condition called serotonin syndrome. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Night Nurse Liquid is not recommended during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding due to the presence of promethazine and dextromethorphan, which may not be suitable for use during these times. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Do not drink alcohol whilst taking Night Nurse Liquid. Alcohol can significantly increase the sedative effects of promethazine, leading to excessive drowsiness and raising the risk of accidents. Alcohol may also increase the risk of liver damage when combined with paracetamol, especially if consumed in larger amounts.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Night Nurse Liquid causes drowsiness and is intended for night-time use only. Do not drive, cycle, or operate machinery after taking this medicine. The sedative effect of promethazine may still be present the morning after you take a dose, so you should assess how you feel before driving or carrying out tasks that require alertness.

    Storage

Store Night Nurse Liquid below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
