How It Works
Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by blocking the production of prostaglandins — natural chemicals in the body that cause pain, swelling, and fever. By reducing prostaglandin levels, ibuprofen helps to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and bring down a high temperature.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and young people aged 12 years and over: take 1 to 2 tablets (200mg–400mg) up to three times a day as needed. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than 6 tablets (1200mg) in 24 hours. Always take ibuprofen with or after food or milk to help protect your stomach. This product is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Taking ibuprofen alongside these medicines may increase the risk of side effects or reduce their effectiveness. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Ibuprofen should not be taken during the last 3 months of pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. It is also best avoided during early pregnancy unless advised by a doctor. Ibuprofen can pass into breast milk in small amounts, but is generally considered suitable for short-term use whilst breastfeeding at recommended doses — however, you should always seek advice first. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol whilst taking ibuprofen increases the risk of stomach irritation and bleeding. It is advisable to avoid or limit alcohol consumption during treatment. If you regularly drink large amounts of alcohol, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist before taking ibuprofen.

Driving and Operating Machinery
Ibuprofen does not usually affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience dizziness or visual disturbances whilst taking this medicine, do not drive or use machinery until these effects have passed.
