    Description

Gaviscon Advance Mint – 24 Chewable Tablets

Gaviscon Advance Mint Chewable Tablets are used to relieve the symptoms of heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion. They are suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over.

    How It Works

When chewed, these tablets release sodium alginate and potassium bicarbonate, which react with stomach acid to form a thick, gel-like raft that floats on top of the stomach contents. This raft acts as a physical barrier, helping to prevent acid from rising back up into the oesophagus (food pipe) and relieving the burning sensation associated with heartburn and acid reflux.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: Chew 2 to 4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. Do not exceed 4 doses (16 tablets) in 24 hours. Swallow the chewed tablets — no water is needed, making them convenient to take on the go. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    Interactions

Gaviscon Advance tablets may affect the absorption of some medicines if taken at the same time. It is advisable to take other medicines at least 2 hours before or after taking Gaviscon Advance. This is particularly relevant for medicines such as antibiotics, thyroid medications, and iron supplements. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Gaviscon Advance products are sometimes recommended to help manage heartburn during pregnancy, but you should always seek professional advice before use. The sodium and potassium content should be considered, particularly in conditions where dietary mineral intake is being monitored. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between Gaviscon Advance Mint Chewable Tablets and alcohol. However, alcohol can irritate the stomach lining and worsen symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn, so it is advisable to limit alcohol consumption whilst experiencing these symptoms.
