    Description

    Drapolene cream – 100 gram

Drapolene Cream is a gentle antiseptic emollient cream used to soothe, protect, and moisturise sensitive or irritated skin. It is commonly used for nappy rash, minor burns (including sunburn), incontinence-related skin irritation, and dry or eczema-prone skin.

    How It Works

Drapolene Cream contains two antiseptic ingredients — benzalkonium chloride and cetrimide — which help to kill bacteria on the skin and reduce the risk of infection. The cream also acts as an emollient and barrier, locking moisture into the skin and protecting it from further irritation caused by wetness, friction, or contact with irritants such as urine or faeces.

    Directions for Use

Apply a thin layer of Drapolene Cream to the affected area at each nappy change, or as needed for other skin conditions. Gently clean and dry the skin before applying. The cream is suitable for babies, children, and adults. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Benzalkonium chloride 0.01% w/w
    • Cetrimide 0.2% w/w

    Possible Side Effects

Drapolene Cream is generally well tolerated, but some people may experience:
    • Skin irritation or redness at the site of application
    • Mild stinging or burning sensation upon application
    • Allergic skin reactions such as rash or itching
    • Rarely, a more severe allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People with a known allergy to benzalkonium chloride, cetrimide, or any other ingredient in the cream
    • People who have previously had an allergic skin reaction to antiseptic products
    • Do not apply to deep wounds, puncture wounds, or severely broken skin unless advised by a healthcare professional
    • Do not use in the eyes or inside the mouth or nose

    Interactions

No significant drug interactions are known for Drapolene Cream when used topically as directed. However, avoid applying alongside other topical preparations to the same area at the same time, as this may affect how well the cream works. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Drapolene Cream is considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding when applied topically as directed, as systemic absorption through the skin is minimal. However, avoid applying to the nipple area if breastfeeding to prevent the baby coming into contact with the active ingredients. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Drapolene Cream and alcohol. This product is applied to the skin and is not taken by mouth, so alcohol consumption does not affect how the cream works.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Drapolene Cream is applied topically and is not absorbed into the bloodstream in significant amounts. It does not cause drowsiness or impair your ability to drive or operate machinery.

    Storage

Store Drapolene Cream below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not freeze. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
