Description
Difflam Sore Throat Rinse – 200ml
Difflam Sore Throat Rinse is a medicated mouth rinse used to relieve pain and inflammation in the mouth and throat. It is commonly used for sore throats, mouth ulcers, and discomfort following dental procedures or tonsillitis.
⸻
How It Works
Difflam contains benzydamine hydrochloride, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works locally in the mouth and throat. It helps to reduce inflammation and has a mild numbing (local anaesthetic) effect, which eases pain and soreness when you gargle or rinse with it. Because it acts directly on the affected area, very little is absorbed into the bloodstream.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 and over: Rinse or gargle with 15 ml (approximately 3 teaspoonfuls) undiluted, every 1.5 to 3 hours as needed. Hold the rinse in the mouth or gargle for at least 30 seconds, then spit it out — do not swallow. If stinging occurs, the solution may be diluted with an equal amount of water. Children under 12 should not use this product unless directed by a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

⸻
Interactions
Difflam Sore Throat Rinse is applied locally in the mouth and throat, and very little is absorbed into the body, so significant drug interactions are uncommon. However, caution is advised if you are already using other NSAID-containing products. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The safety of benzydamine hydrochloride during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. As only minimal amounts are absorbed when used as directed, the risk is considered low, but caution is still advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known significant interaction between Difflam Sore Throat Rinse and alcohol when used as directed. However, alcohol may further irritate an already sore throat, so it is best avoided while you are experiencing throat discomfort.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Difflam Sore Throat Rinse is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It acts locally in the mouth and throat and is not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream, so it is unlikely to cause drowsiness or impair concentration.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
