Dettol Antiseptic Disinfectant Liquid is a versatile antiseptic solution used to help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes, and skin abrasions, as well as for general household disinfection and personal hygiene.

How It Works

The active ingredient, chloroxylenol, works by disrupting the cell membranes of bacteria and other micro-organisms, killing germs on contact. This helps to reduce the risk of infection in minor wounds and keeps surfaces and skin hygienically clean.

Directions for Use

Dettol Antiseptic Liquid should always be diluted with water before applying to skin — never apply it neat, as this may cause irritation. For wound cleansing in adults and children over 2 years, dilute approximately 1 part Dettol to 20 parts water (about a capful in a small bowl of water), then apply gently to the affected area using a clean cloth or cotton wool. For general surface disinfection, dilute as directed on the product label. This product is not suitable for use in children under 2 years without medical advice. Possible Side Effects

• Skin irritation or redness at the site of application

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• People with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to chloroxylenol or any other ingredient in this product
• Children under 2 years of age without medical supervision
• Do not use in or near the eyes, ears, or mouth
• Do not use on large areas of broken or damaged skin without medical advice
• Do not use neat (undiluted) on the skin

Interactions

Dettol Antiseptic Liquid is for external use only and is not expected to interact with medicines taken by mouth. However, avoid using alongside other topical antiseptics or skin preparations on the same area without guidance. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Dettol Antiseptic Liquid is for external use and is generally considered low risk when used as directed and properly diluted during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Avoid applying to the breast area if breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
