    Description

    Daktarin 2% Cream – 15gram

Daktarin 2% Cream is an antifungal cream containing miconazole nitrate, used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete’s foot, ringworm, and other skin infections caused by fungi or certain bacteria.

    How It Works

Miconazole nitrate works by attacking the cell membrane of fungi, preventing them from growing and spreading. It disrupts the production of a substance called ergosterol, which fungi need to survive, effectively killing the infection and relieving symptoms such as itching, redness, and flaking skin.

    Directions for Use

Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area and the surrounding skin two to three times daily. Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying the cream. Continue treatment for at least one week after symptoms have cleared to prevent the infection from returning. This cream is suitable for adults and children. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Miconazole nitrate 2% (20mg per gram)

    Possible Side Effects

    • Mild burning or stinging sensation at the application site
    • Skin irritation or redness
    • Itching or rash at the site of application
    • Allergic skin reactions (uncommon)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to miconazole nitrate or any other ingredient in the cream
    • People with a known allergy to imidazole antifungal medicines
    • Do not apply to broken or severely damaged skin unless directed by a doctor
    • Not intended for internal use or application inside the mouth, eyes, or ears

    Interactions

Although Daktarin 2% Cream is applied to the skin and systemic absorption is low, miconazole can potentially interact with anticoagulant medicines such as warfarin if absorbed in significant amounts — particularly if applied over large areas of skin. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Daktarin 2% Cream is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding when applied to external skin in small amounts, but caution is advised. Avoid applying to the breast area if breastfeeding to prevent the baby from accidentally ingesting the cream. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Daktarin 2% Cream and alcohol. As this is a topical (skin) product, alcohol consumption does not affect its safety or effectiveness.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Daktarin 2% Cream is a topical treatment and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It does not cause drowsiness or impair concentration.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not refrigerate or freeze the cream. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
