    Description

Colpermin IBS Relief – 100 Capsules

Colpermin IBS Relief capsules contain peppermint oil and are used to relieve the painful symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), including stomach cramps, bloating, and discomfort. They are suitable for adults and children aged 15 and over.

    How It Works

Peppermint oil acts as an antispasmodic, meaning it helps to relax the muscles in the wall of your large bowel. This reduces painful spasms and cramps, helping to ease the discomfort associated with IBS. The capsules are specially coated so that the peppermint oil is released in the bowel rather than the stomach.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 15 and over should take one capsule three times a day. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water at least 30 minutes before meals — do not chew or crush the capsule. If symptoms are severe, the dose may be increased to two capsules three times a day. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Peppermint oil (Mentha x piperita) — 187 mg per capsule

    Possible Side Effects

    • Heartburn or a burning sensation around the mouth or anus
    • Nausea
    • Skin rash, hives, or itching
    • Headache
    • Slowing of the heart rate (rare)
    • Muscle tremor (rare)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 15 years of age
    • People with known allergy or hypersensitivity to peppermint oil or any other ingredient in the capsules
    • People with achlorhydria (a condition where the stomach produces no acid)
    • People with serious liver disease or gallstones (unless advised by a doctor)

    Interactions

Peppermint oil may interact with certain medicines, including those used to reduce stomach acid (such as antacids or proton pump inhibitors), as these could cause the capsule coating to dissolve too early in the stomach. There are no well-documented food interactions, but you should avoid taking Colpermin alongside antacids at the same time. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

There is limited clinical evidence regarding the safety of peppermint oil during pregnancy or breastfeeding. As a precaution, it is advisable to avoid use unless clearly necessary. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between Colpermin IBS Relief and alcohol. However, alcohol can irritate the gut and may worsen IBS symptoms, so it is generally advisable to drink alcohol in moderation if you are managing IBS.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Colpermin IBS Relief is not known to cause drowsiness or to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. You should be safe to drive as normal when taking this medicine.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the capsules in their original packaging. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
