Description
Celluvisc 0.5% w/v Eye Drops – 30 Single-Doses
Celluvisc 0.5% w/v Eye Drops are a lubricating eye drop used to relieve the symptoms of dry, irritated, or uncomfortable eyes. Each pack contains 30 single-dose units, making them ideal for convenient, hygienic use throughout the day.
⸻
How It Works
Celluvisc contains carmellose sodium (also known as carboxymethylcellulose), a substance that mimics the natural tear film of the eye. When applied, it forms a thin, soothing layer over the surface of the eye, helping to retain moisture, reduce dryness, and relieve irritation for longer-lasting comfort.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children: instil one or two drops into the affected eye(s) as needed to relieve dryness and discomfort. Each single-dose unit is for single use only — discard any remaining solution immediately after use, even if some liquid remains. Do not touch the tip of the unit to your eye or any other surface to avoid contamination. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Carmellose sodium 0.5% w/v (5 mg per ml)
⸻
Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, Celluvisc can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Possible side effects may include:
• Temporary blurred vision immediately after application
• Mild stinging or burning sensation in the eye
• Eye irritation or discomfort
• Sticky feeling around the eye
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
Do not use Celluvisc eye drops if:
• You are allergic to carmellose sodium or any other ingredient in the product
• You wear contact lenses (remove lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting)
• You have been advised by your doctor not to use this type of eye drop
⸻
Interactions
Celluvisc eye drops are not known to interact significantly with other medicines. If you are using other eye drops or eye ointments, leave at least 5–15 minutes between each product to prevent dilution and ensure effectiveness. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Celluvisc eye drops are generally considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as systemic absorption is expected to be minimal. However, as with all medicines, caution is advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Celluvisc eye drops and alcohol. This product is applied directly to the eye and is not taken by mouth, so alcohol consumption is not expected to affect how it works.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Celluvisc eye drops may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after application. You should wait until your vision is completely clear before driving or operating machinery. Do not drive or use tools or machines if your vision is affected after use.
⸻
Storage
Store Celluvisc eye drops below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Once opened, each single-dose unit must be used immediately and any remaining solution discarded — do not store for later use. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
