    Description

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free Suspension Strawberry – 100ml

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free Suspension Strawberry is a paracetamol-based liquid medicine designed for children aged 6 years and over. It helps to relieve mild to moderate pain, including headaches, toothache, sore throats, and aches and pains, and also reduces fever (high temperature).

    How It Works

The active ingredient, paracetamol, works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain and raising body temperature. By reducing the levels of these chemicals, paracetamol helps to lower fever and ease discomfort. It is well tolerated by most children and is suitable for those who need to avoid sugar in their diet.

    Directions for Use

This medicine is for children aged 6 years and above only. Always use the measuring device provided and give the suspension by mouth. The recommended doses are:

6–8 years (21–26 kg): 5 ml per dose
8–10 years (26–32 kg): 7.5 ml per dose
10–12 years (32–40 kg): 10 ml per dose

Give no more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period, leaving at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give for more than 3 days without seeking medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 250 mg per 5 ml

    Possible Side Effects

Calpol SixPlus is generally well tolerated when used as directed. Side effects are uncommon, but may include:

    • Skin rash or itching
    • Allergic reactions (such as swelling of the face, lips, or throat)
    • Nausea or stomach upset (rare)
    • Blood disorders (very rare with long-term or excessive use)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not give Calpol SixPlus to a child if they:

    • Are under 6 years of age
    • Are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in this product
    • Are already taking another medicine containing paracetamol
    • Have severe liver or kidney disease
    • Have been told by a doctor to avoid this medicine for any reason

    Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with certain other medicines, so it is important to check before use. Key interactions include:

    • Other medicines containing paracetamol (risk of overdose)
    • Warfarin and other anticoagulants (blood-thinning medicines) — regular use of paracetamol may increase their effect
    • Some medicines used to treat epilepsy (e.g. carbamazepine, phenytoin) — may reduce the effectiveness of paracetamol
    • Metoclopramide or domperidone — may increase the speed at which paracetamol is absorbed

Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
