    Description

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free 5ml – 12 Sachets

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free sachets are a children’s medicine suitable for ages 6 and over, used to relieve mild to moderate pain — such as headaches, toothache, and sore throats — and to reduce fever. Each sachet contains a pre-measured 5ml dose of sugar-free paracetamol suspension, making it a convenient option for children who have difficulty swallowing tablets.

    How It Works

The active ingredient, paracetamol, works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain and raising body temperature. By reducing prostaglandin levels, paracetamol helps to relieve discomfort and bring a high temperature down to a more normal level.

    Directions for Use

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free is for children aged 6 to 12 years. Each sachet contains one 5ml dose (250mg paracetamol). The recommended doses are as follows:

    • Children aged 6–8 years: 5ml (1 sachet) per dose
    • Children aged 8–10 years: 7.5ml (1.5 sachets) per dose
    • Children aged 10–12 years: 10ml (2 sachets) per dose

Doses may be given up to 4 times in 24 hours, leaving at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period. Do not give this medicine to a child for more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 250mg per 5ml sachet

    Possible Side Effects

Calpol SixPlus Sugar Free is generally well tolerated when used as directed. Side effects are uncommon but may include:

    • Allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching
    • Nausea or stomach upset
    • Low blood platelet count (very rare, associated with paracetamol)
    • Liver or kidney problems (rare, usually associated with overdose or prolonged use)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not give this medicine to a child who:

    • Is allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in this product
    • Is under 6 years of age
    • Has severe liver or kidney problems
    • Is already taking another medicine containing paracetamol (to avoid exceeding the maximum daily dose)
    • Has been advised by a doctor not to take paracetamol

    Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with certain medicines, including blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin, medicines used to treat epilepsy (e.g. carbamazepine, phenytoin), and some antibiotics such as chloramphenicol. Taking other products containing paracetamol at the same time can lead to an overdose. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

This medicine is intended for children aged 6 to 12 years and is not indicated for use in adults, including those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If a parent or carer is pregnant or breastfeeding and requires paracetamol for themselves, they should seek separate advice. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
