    Description

Calpol SixPlus FastMelts – 24 Tablets

Calpol SixPlus FastMelts are strawberry-flavoured tablets that dissolve quickly in the mouth, providing effective relief from pain and fever in children aged 6 years and over. They are suitable for treating headaches, toothache, sore throats, cold and flu symptoms, and high temperature (fever).

    How It Works

Each FastMelt tablet contains paracetamol, a well-established pain reliever and fever reducer. Paracetamol works by blocking the production of certain chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain and raising body temperature. The fast-melt format means the tablet dissolves on the tongue without needing water, allowing it to be absorbed quickly.

    Directions for Use

Place the tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve — no water is needed. Doses should be given every 4 to 6 hours as needed, with a maximum of 4 doses in any 24-hour period. Do not give more than the recommended number of doses.

Age-specific doses (each FastMelt tablet contains 250 mg paracetamol):
    • Children aged 6–9 years: 2 tablets per dose
    • Children aged 10–12 years: 3 tablets per dose
    • Children aged 12–15 years: 4 tablets per dose

This product is not suitable for children under 6 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 250 mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

Calpol SixPlus FastMelts are generally well tolerated when used as directed. Side effects are uncommon, but may include:
    • Skin rash or allergic reaction
    • Low blood pressure (if given by injection — not relevant to this oral form)
    • Blood disorders (very rare with normal use)
    • Liver or kidney problems (very rare, usually associated with overdose)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not give Calpol SixPlus FastMelts to:
    • Children under 6 years of age
    • Children who are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in the tablets
    • Children who are already taking other paracetamol-containing medicines (e.g., cold and flu remedies)
    • Children with severe liver or kidney problems (unless directed by a doctor)
    • Children with phenylketonuria (PKU), as the tablets contain aspartame

    Interactions

Paracetamol can interact with several other medicines, including blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin, medicines used to treat epilepsy (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin), and other products containing paracetamol. Taking more than one paracetamol-containing product at the same time can lead to an accidental overdose. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Calpol SixPlus FastMelts are intended for children aged 6 years and over and are not indicated for use in adults. However, paracetamol is generally considered the pain reliever of choice during pregnancy and breastfeeding when used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time necessary. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

As this product is intended for children aged 6 to 15 years, alcohol consumption is not applicable. Parents and carers should ensure children do not consume alcohol, particularly whilst taking any medication.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Calpol SixPlus FastMelts do not contain any ingredients known to cause drowsiness. They are not expected to affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. If the underlying illness causes tiredness or affects concentration in older children, take care accordingly.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
