    Description

    Allevia Hives 180mg – 15 Tablets x 6

Allevia Hives 180mg tablets contain fexofenadine hydrochloride, a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives) in adults and children aged 12 years and over. It helps reduce itching, redness, and the appearance of raised skin welts associated with this condition.

    How It Works

Fexofenadine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical released by your immune system that causes allergy-like symptoms such as itching and swelling. By blocking histamine’s effects, fexofenadine helps relieve the discomfort and skin reactions associated with hives without causing significant drowsiness in most people.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take one 180mg tablet once daily, swallowed whole with water. Do not take with fruit juices such as apple, orange, or grapefruit juice, as these can reduce the absorption of the medicine. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Fexofenadine hydrochloride 180mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Headache
    • Drowsiness (uncommon, but possible in some people)
    • Dizziness
    • Nausea
    • Dry mouth
    • Fatigue
    • Skin rash or itching (rare)

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • People with a known allergy to fexofenadine hydrochloride or any other ingredient in the tablet
    • People with severely reduced kidney function (unless advised by a doctor)
    • Anyone currently taking certain medicines that may interact (see Interactions section)

    Interactions

Fexofenadine absorption can be significantly reduced by fruit juices (especially apple, orange, and grapefruit juice) — take only with water. Antacids containing aluminium or magnesium hydroxide may also reduce how well fexofenadine is absorbed if taken at the same time; leave a two-hour gap between taking these. Some medicines, including erythromycin and ketoconazole, may increase fexofenadine levels in the blood. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of fexofenadine during pregnancy has not been fully established, and it is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless specifically advised by a doctor. Fexofenadine may pass into breast milk and its effects on a nursing infant are not fully known. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no specific interaction between fexofenadine and alcohol; however, alcohol itself can worsen symptoms such as drowsiness and dizziness. It is advisable to drink alcohol only in moderation while taking this medicine, particularly if you notice any drowsiness as a side effect.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Allevia Hives is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine, and most people can drive and operate machinery as normal. However, a small number of people may experience dizziness or drowsiness. If you are affected in this way, do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
