    Allevia Fexofenadine 120mg – 7 Tablets

Allevia Fexofenadine 120mg Tablets are a non-drowsy antihistamine used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) in adults and children aged 12 and over. They help ease sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, and itchy, red, or watery eyes caused by pollen and other airborne allergens.

    How It Works

Fexofenadine works by blocking histamine H1 receptors in the body. Histamine is a natural chemical released during an allergic reaction that causes symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and a runny nose. By blocking histamine from binding to its receptors, fexofenadine helps to reduce and relieve these symptoms without causing the drowsiness associated with older antihistamines.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 12 and over should take one 120mg tablet once a day, swallowed whole with water. It is best taken before meals. Do not exceed one tablet in 24 hours. Allevia Fexofenadine 120mg is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Fexofenadine hydrochloride 120mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Headache
    • Drowsiness (uncommon, but may occur in some people)
    • Nausea or feeling sick
    • Dizziness
    • Dry mouth
    • Fatigue or tiredness

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • Anyone who is allergic to fexofenadine hydrochloride or any other ingredient in the tablet
    • People with severe kidney problems (unless advised by a doctor)
    • Anyone who has been told to avoid this medicine by their doctor

    Interactions

Fexofenadine levels in the blood can be increased by erythromycin (an antibiotic) and ketoconazole (an antifungal), which may increase the risk of side effects. Antacids containing aluminium and magnesium hydroxide (commonly found in indigestion remedies) can reduce the absorption of fexofenadine and should be taken at least 2 hours apart. Fruit juices such as grapefruit, orange, and apple juice may reduce the absorption of fexofenadine, so it is best taken with water. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of fexofenadine during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. It is not recommended for use during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding unless the potential benefit outweighs any possible risk. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no specific contraindication between fexofenadine and alcohol, and fexofenadine is not known to cause significant sedation. However, drinking alcohol alongside any medication is generally not recommended, as alcohol may affect your well-being and could mask or worsen allergy symptoms. If in doubt, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Allevia Fexofenadine is classed as a non-drowsy antihistamine and is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery for most people. However, a small number of people may experience drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel affected by this medicine.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the tablets in their original packaging. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
