Fybogel Original Natural Fibre Drink sachets are used to relieve constipation and help maintain regular bowel movements. Each sachet contains ispaghula husk, a natural plant-based fibre that gently supports your digestive system.

How It Works

Ispaghula husk is a bulk-forming laxative. When mixed with water and swallowed, it absorbs liquid in the gut, swelling to form a soft, gel-like mass that makes stools easier to pass. It works gradually and naturally, without causing cramping or urgency.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 and over should take one sachet twice daily, preferably after meals. Empty the sachet into a glass, add at least 150 ml of cold water, stir well, and drink immediately. It is important to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day whilst using this product. Children under 12 should only use this medicine on medical advice. Possible Side Effects

• Bloating or flatulence (wind), especially in the first few days of use
• Abdominal discomfort or cramping
• Nausea
• Allergic reactions (rare) — including skin rash, itching, or breathing difficulties

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• People who are allergic to ispaghula husk or any other ingredient in the product
• People with difficulty swallowing or throat problems
• People with bowel obstruction or suspected bowel obstruction
• People with sudden changes in bowel habit lasting more than two weeks without medical advice
• People with faecal impaction (a severe form of constipation requiring medical treatment)
• Children under 12 years of age (unless directed by a doctor)

Interactions

Ispaghula husk may reduce the absorption of some medicines if taken at the same time. It is advisable to take other medicines at least 30–60 minutes before taking Fybogel, or as directed. This includes medicines such as lithium, carbamazepine, and certain diabetes medications. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Fybogel is generally considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as ispaghula husk is not significantly absorbed into the body. However, it is always best to seek guidance before starting any new medicine during pregnancy or while nursing. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

There are no known interactions between Fybogel and alcohol. However, alcohol can contribute to dehydration, which may worsen constipation. It is advisable to drink plenty of water throughout the day when taking this product.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Fybogel is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It does not contain any ingredients known to cause drowsiness or impair concentration.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
