    Description

    Voltarol 12 Hours 2.32% Gel – 100g

Voltarol 12 Hours 2.32% Gel is a topical anti-inflammatory gel used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation caused by rheumatic conditions, joint pain, muscular sprains, strains, and bruising. It contains diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and is designed to provide up to 12 hours of relief with a cooling, non-greasy formula.

    How It Works

Diclofenac works by blocking the production of prostaglandins — natural chemicals in the body that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation. When applied to the skin, the gel penetrates to the site of pain and acts locally, reducing inflammation and discomfort without the need to take a tablet.

    Directions for Use

For adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over: Apply a pea-sized amount (approximately 2g) of gel to the affected area and gently rub in up to twice daily. Each application should be at least 6–8 hours apart. Wash your hands after applying unless the hands are the area being treated. Do not use on more than two body areas at the same time. Do not apply to broken, damaged, or infected skin, and avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Diclofenac diethylammonium 2.32% w/w (equivalent to diclofenac sodium 2% w/w)

    Possible Side Effects

    • Skin reactions at the application site (e.g. redness, itching, or rash)
    • Dry or flaky skin at the treated area
    • Burning or tingling sensation on the skin
    • Photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight at the application site)
    • Rarely, allergic skin reactions such as blistering or swelling
    • Rarely, systemic side effects such as nausea or stomach upset

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

    • People with active or history of stomach ulcers or gastrointestinal bleeding
    • Children under 14 years of age
    • Anyone in the last trimester (after 28 weeks) of pregnancy

    Interactions

Voltarol 12 Hours Gel is applied to the skin and is unlikely to cause significant interactions with other medicines. However, caution is advised if you are also using other NSAID-containing products, either topically or orally, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you are taking blood-thinning medicines (such as warfarin), please seek advice before use. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Voltarol 12 Hours Gel should not be used during the last trimester of pregnancy (after 28 weeks), as NSAIDs may affect the unborn baby. Use during the first and second trimesters should only be considered if clearly necessary. During breastfeeding, avoid applying the gel to the chest or breast area. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Voltarol 12 Hours Gel and alcohol when used as directed. As this product is applied to the skin and has very low systemic absorption, alcohol is not expected to affect how the medicine works.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Voltarol 12 Hours Gel is applied topically and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you experience any unexpected symptoms that affect your alertness, seek advice from your PillSorted pharmacist.
