    Description

Syndol Headache Relief – 30 Tablets

Syndol Headache Relief tablets are used to relieve headaches and migraines, including those that have not responded well to standard over-the-counter painkillers. Each tablet contains a combination of paracetamol, codeine phosphate, caffeine, and doxylamine succinate to provide effective, fast-acting relief.

    How It Works

Syndol contains four active ingredients that work together to tackle headache pain from different angles. Paracetamol and codeine work on pain signals in the brain and nervous system to reduce the sensation of pain, whilst caffeine helps to enhance their effect. Doxylamine succinate is an antihistamine that helps to relax muscle tension, which can be a contributing factor in headaches.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 years and over: take 2 tablets with water. If needed, a further dose of 2 tablets may be taken after 4 to 6 hours. Do not take more than 6 tablets in any 24-hour period. Do not use for more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. This medicine is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    • Doxylamine succinate 5 mg

    Possible Side Effects

    • Drowsiness or sedation
    • Dizziness
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Constipation
    • Dry mouth
    • Headache on overuse (if taken too frequently)
    • Dependence or withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use of codeine

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 16 years of age
    • People who are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, caffeine, doxylamine, or any other ingredient in the product
    • People with severe liver or kidney problems
    • People with breathing problems such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
    • People who are known ultra-rapid metabolisers of codeine (a genetic variation that increases risk of serious side effects)
    • Breastfeeding women
    • People who suffer from alcoholism or are currently dependent on opioids

    Interactions

Syndol may interact with other medicines, including other paracetamol-containing products (risk of overdose), other medicines that cause drowsiness such as sleeping tablets, anxiety medicines, or strong painkillers, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin, and medicines for epilepsy. Combining Syndol with other stimulants containing caffeine (such as certain energy drinks or cold remedies) should also be avoided. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Syndol is not recommended during pregnancy due to the codeine and doxylamine content, and should only be used if advised by a doctor. Codeine must not be taken while breastfeeding, as it can pass into breast milk and may cause serious harm to a nursing infant. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Syndol. Both alcohol and codeine act as central nervous system depressants, and combining them can increase the risk of excessive drowsiness, dizziness, and other serious side effects. Alcohol can also increase the risk of liver damage when taken alongside paracetamol.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Syndol can cause drowsiness and dizziness due to the codeine and doxylamine it contains. You should not drive, operate machinery, or carry out tasks that require alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. If you feel drowsy after taking Syndol, do not drive or use tools or machinery.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
