    Description

    Syndol – 10 Tablets

Syndol is a combined painkiller tablet used to relieve mild to moderate pain, including headaches, migraine, tension headaches, toothache, period pain, and muscular aches. It contains four active ingredients that work together to provide effective pain relief with a muscle-relaxing effect.

    How It Works

Syndol combines paracetamol and codeine phosphate, which work together to block pain signals in the brain and body. Caffeine helps to enhance the pain-relieving effect of the other ingredients, while doxylamine succinate (an antihistamine) acts as a muscle relaxant and helps to ease tension that can contribute to headaches and muscular pain.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 and over: Take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24-hour period. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not take for more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. Syndol is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 450 mg
    • Codeine phosphate hemihydrate 10 mg
    • Doxylamine succinate 5 mg
    • Caffeine 30 mg

    Possible Side Effects

    • Drowsiness or sedation
    • Dizziness or light-headedness
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Constipation
    • Dry mouth
    • Difficulty passing urine
    • Skin rash or allergic reaction
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children and young people under 16 years of age
    • People who are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, doxylamine, caffeine, or any other ingredient in Syndol
    • People with severe liver or kidney problems
    • People who are known to be ultra-rapid metabolisers of codeine
    • People with breathing difficulties or respiratory depression
    • Breastfeeding mothers
    • People who have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) within the last 14 days
    • People with a condition called glaucoma (raised pressure in the eye)

    Interactions

Syndol may interact with other medicines, including other paracetamol-containing products (risk of accidental overdose), other opioid painkillers, sedatives, sleeping tablets, antidepressants, antihistamines, and medicines for epilepsy. Codeine can interact with certain antidepressants and antifungal medicines that affect how the body processes codeine. Do not take Syndol with other products containing paracetamol or codeine. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Syndol is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, as codeine can affect the baby’s breathing and cause withdrawal symptoms in newborns. Syndol must not be taken by breastfeeding mothers, as codeine passes into breast milk and can cause serious harm to the baby. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Syndol. Alcohol can increase the sedative effects of both codeine and doxylamine, making drowsiness and dizziness significantly worse. Alcohol taken alongside paracetamol can also increase the risk of liver damage, particularly if taken in large amounts.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Syndol can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired concentration, which may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery safely. You should not drive or use machines until you know how this medicine affects you. This effect may be made worse by alcohol or other sedating medicines.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
