    Description

    Solpadeine Max – 20 Tablets

Solpadeine Max tablets are a powerful dual-action pain reliever used to treat mild to moderate pain and fever, including headaches, migraines, period pain, dental pain, and muscle pain. Each tablet contains three active ingredients — paracetamol, codeine, and caffeine — working together to provide effective relief.

    How It Works

Paracetamol reduces pain and fever by blocking the production of chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which cause pain and inflammation. Codeine is a mild opioid that further reduces the sensation of pain by acting on opioid receptors in the brain and nervous system. Caffeine has been shown to enhance the pain-relieving effects of both paracetamol and codeine, helping the medicine to work more effectively.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 16 and over: take 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24-hour period. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not take for more than 3 days continuously without speaking to a doctor. Solpadeine Max is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children and young people under 16 years of age
    • Anyone allergic to paracetamol, codeine, caffeine, or any other ingredient in the tablets
    • People who are known to be ultra-rapid metabolisers of codeine (a genetic variation affecting how the body processes codeine)
    • Breastfeeding mothers
    • People with respiratory depression or severe breathing problems
    • People with liver or kidney disease
    • People with a history of drug or alcohol dependency
    • People already taking other paracetamol-containing medicines

    Interactions

Solpadeine Max may interact with other medicines, including other paracetamol-containing products (risk of overdose), monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), anticoagulants such as warfarin (with regular use), sedatives, sleeping tablets, or medicines that cause drowsiness, and medicines used to treat epilepsy such as carbamazepine or phenytoin. Caffeine may also interact with some medicines used to treat anxiety or heart conditions. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Solpadeine Max is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, due to the codeine content, which can affect the baby’s breathing. Codeine passes into breast milk and can cause serious harm to a breastfeeding baby; this medicine must not be used while breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Solpadeine Max. Alcohol can increase the sedative effects of codeine, leading to excessive drowsiness, and can also increase the risk of liver damage when taken alongside paracetamol, even at normal doses.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Solpadeine Max contains codeine, which can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired concentration in some people. You should not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel affected by this medicine. Be especially cautious when first starting this medication, as you may not know how it will affect you.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
