Description
Solpadeine Max – 24 Tablets
Solpadeine Max Tablets are a maximum-strength pain relief medicine available in packs of 24 tablets. They are used to relieve moderate pain including headaches, migraines, dental pain, period pain, muscular pain, and back pain.
⸻
How It Works
Solpadeine Max contains three active ingredients that work together to provide powerful pain relief. Paracetamol reduces pain and fever, codeine phosphate is an opioid that boosts pain relief further, and caffeine helps to enhance the overall effect of paracetamol — making the combination more effective than paracetamol alone.
⸻
Directions for Use
For adults and young people aged 16 and over: take 2 tablets up to 4 times a day as needed, leaving at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not use for more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. This medicine is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Paracetamol 500 mg per tablet
• Codeine phosphate 12.8 mg per tablet
• Caffeine 10 mg per tablet
⸻
Possible Side Effects
• Constipation
• Nausea or vomiting
• Drowsiness or dizziness
• Headache (with prolonged use)
• Skin rash or allergic reactions
• Dependence or withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use
• Breathing difficulties (rare, particularly at higher doses)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• Children and young people under 16 years of age
• Anyone allergic to paracetamol, codeine phosphate, caffeine, or any other ingredient in this product
• People who are known to be “ultra-rapid metabolisers” of codeine (a genetic trait that can cause serious side effects)
• People with severe liver or kidney disease
• Anyone who has a condition causing blocked or slow bowel movements
• People with respiratory depression or severe asthma
• Breastfeeding mothers (due to codeine passing into breast milk)
⸻
Interactions
Solpadeine Max may interact with other medicines, including other paracetamol-containing products, opioid painkillers, sleeping tablets, antidepressants (including MAOIs), blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin, and medicines used to treat epilepsy. Taking other medicines containing codeine or paracetamol at the same time can lead to serious overdose — always check labels carefully. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Solpadeine Max is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, as codeine may cause breathing problems in newborns. Breastfeeding is not recommended whilst taking this medicine, as codeine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby — especially if you are an ultra-rapid codeine metaboliser. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Solpadeine Max. Alcohol can increase the risk of liver damage from paracetamol and may intensify the sedative effects of codeine, making drowsiness and dizziness worse.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Solpadeine Max contains codeine, which can cause drowsiness and dizziness, and may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery safely. Do not drive or use heavy machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
