Robitussin Dry Cough Medicine – 100ml
Robitussin Dry Cough Medicine is a cough syrup designed to relieve dry, tickly, and irritating coughs. It is suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and over.
⸻
How It Works
The active ingredient, dextromethorphan hydrobromide, works by acting on the cough centre in the brain to suppress the urge to cough. This helps to reduce the frequency and intensity of a dry, unproductive cough, providing soothing relief so you can rest and carry on with your day.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: take 10 ml (two 5 ml spoonfuls) up to every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 4 doses (40 ml) in 24 hours. This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 7.5 mg per 5 ml
⸻

• People with chronic or persistent coughs associated with asthma, smoking, or excessive mucus (productive cough)

⸻
Interactions
Dextromethorphan may interact with MAOIs, certain antidepressants (including SSRIs and tricyclic antidepressants), and medicines that cause drowsiness, including sedatives and antihistamines. Taking this medicine alongside other cough and cold remedies containing dextromethorphan should be avoided to prevent exceeding the recommended dose. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The safety of dextromethorphan during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. This medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding unless advised by a healthcare professional. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Avoid drinking alcohol whilst taking Robitussin Dry Cough Medicine, as alcohol can increase the sedative effects of dextromethorphan, causing increased drowsiness and dizziness. This combination may also impair your ability to drive or operate machinery safely.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
