Description
Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash – 150ml
Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash is a medicated skin cleanser used to help treat and prevent acne. It is suitable for daily use on the face to reduce spots, blackheads, and oily skin associated with acne vulgaris.
⸻
How It Works
The active ingredient, benzoyl peroxide, works by releasing oxygen onto the skin, which kills the bacteria (Cutibacterium acnes) responsible for causing acne spots. It also helps to unblock pores and reduce excess oil production, leading to clearer skin over time with regular use.
⸻
Directions for Use
For adults and children aged 12 years and over: wet the face with warm water, apply a small amount of facewash to the skin, and gently massage in a circular motion for 1–2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat dry. Use once or twice daily, or as directed. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and sensitive areas. If irritation occurs, reduce frequency of use. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Benzoyl peroxide 5% w/w
⸻
Possible Side Effects
• Skin redness or irritation at the site of application
• Dryness, peeling, or flaking of the skin
• Mild stinging or burning sensation after use
• Bleaching of hair, clothing, or bed linen (due to benzoyl peroxide)
• Allergic skin reaction (rash, severe itching, or swelling — less common)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• People with a known allergy to benzoyl peroxide or any other ingredient in this product
• Children under 12 years of age (unless advised by a doctor)
• Those with very sensitive or broken skin on the face
• People with eczema or seborrhoeic dermatitis on the affected area, unless directed by a doctor
⸻
Interactions
Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash is a topical product and is unlikely to interact with most oral medicines. However, using it alongside other topical acne treatments (such as tretinoin or other retinoids) may increase the risk of skin irritation. Avoid using multiple acne products on the same area at the same time unless advised by a healthcare professional. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The safety of benzoyl peroxide during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. As a precaution, it is advisable to minimise use and avoid applying it to large areas of skin during pregnancy. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash and alcohol, as this is a topical product applied to the skin and is not taken by mouth.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Quinoderm Antibacterial Facewash is applied topically to the skin and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It does not cause drowsiness or impair concentration.
⸻
