Description
Potassium Citrate Mixture 200ml (Brand May Vary)
Potassium Citrate Mixture is an oral liquid medicine used to provide relief from the painful symptoms of cystitis and other urinary tract discomfort. This alkalinising agent works by making your urine less acidic, which can help reduce the burning sensation and discomfort associated with cystitis, offering effective symptomatic relief when you need it most.
How It Works
Potassium citrate works by alkalinising your urine, making it less acidic. When you have cystitis or other urinary tract irritation, your urine can become more acidic, which contributes to the burning, stinging sensation when you urinate. By reducing the acidity of your urine, potassium citrate helps to neutralise this effect and provide relief from painful urination. The medicine is absorbed into your bloodstream and then filtered by your kidneys into your urine, where it exerts its alkalinising effect.
Directions for Use
Adults and children over 6 years: Take 10ml (two 5ml spoonfuls) three times daily in water after meals.
Children under 6 years: Give half the adult dose or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Always dilute the mixture in a glass of water before taking. Take the medicine after meals to reduce the risk of stomach upset. Continue treatment until symptoms improve, but do not use for more than 48 hours without consulting your doctor or pharmacist. If symptoms persist or worsen, seek medical advice.
