Phillips’ Milk Of Magnesia Liquid Traditional Mint Flavour – 200ml

Phillips’ Milk of Magnesia is a traditional antacid and laxative liquid used to relieve indigestion, heartburn, and occasional constipation. It contains magnesium hydroxide and is available in a refreshing mint flavour.

    How It Works

Magnesium hydroxide works in two ways depending on the dose used. At lower doses, it neutralises excess stomach acid to relieve indigestion and heartburn. At higher doses, it draws water into the bowel, which softens the stool and helps to stimulate a bowel movement, providing relief from occasional constipation.

    Directions for Use

For indigestion and heartburn in adults and children aged 12 and over: take 5–10 ml up to three times daily, as required. For constipation in adults and children aged 12 and over: take 30–45 ml as a single dose at bedtime. Shake the bottle well before use and measure carefully using the provided dose cup or a suitable measuring spoon. Do not exceed the stated dose. Not recommended for children under 12 years without medical advice. Always read the product information before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Magnesium hydroxide 415 mg per 5 ml

    Possible Side Effects

    • Diarrhoea (particularly at higher laxative doses)
    • Stomach cramps or abdominal discomfort
    • Nausea
    • Prolonged use may cause an imbalance of magnesium levels in the blood (hypermagnesaemia), especially in people with kidney problems

If you experience any unexpected effects, stop using this product and seek advice from your PillSorted pharmacist.

Who Should Not Use This Product

    • People with kidney disease or impaired kidney function
    • People with known hypersensitivity to magnesium hydroxide or any other ingredient in this product
    • Children under 12 years of age (unless advised by a doctor)
    • People with bowel obstruction, severe abdominal pain, or unexplained change in bowel habits lasting more than two weeks
    • People who have been advised to follow a low-magnesium diet

    Interactions

Magnesium hydroxide may reduce the absorption of certain medicines if taken at the same time, including some antibiotics (such as tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones), iron tablets, and some heart medicines. It is advisable to leave at least 2 hours between taking this product and any other medicines. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Although magnesium hydroxide is not expected to be harmful when used occasionally at recommended doses, it is important to seek advice before using any medicine during pregnancy or whilst breastfeeding. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
