    Description

    Paramol Tablets – 24 Pack

Paramol Tablets are a combination pain relief medicine used to treat mild to moderate pain, including headaches, migraines, toothache, and muscular aches. Each tablet contains two active ingredients that work together to provide effective relief.

    How It Works

Paramol contains paracetamol, which reduces pain signals and lowers fever, and dihydrocodeine, a mild opioid that boosts pain relief by acting on pain receptors in the brain and spinal cord. Together, they provide stronger relief than paracetamol alone, making them suitable when standard pain relief has not been enough.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 and over: take 1–2 tablets every 4–6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24-hour period. Swallow tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not use for more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. Paramol is not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 500 mg per tablet
    • Dihydrocodeine tartrate 7.46 mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Nausea or feeling sick
    • Constipation
    • Dizziness or light-headedness
    • Drowsiness
    • Headache
    • Itching or skin rash (allergic reaction)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 16 years of age
    • People who are allergic to paracetamol, dihydrocodeine, or any other ingredient in this product
    • People with severe liver or kidney problems
    • People with respiratory (breathing) problems such as severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
    • People with a condition called raised intracranial pressure or head injury
    • Those with a known opioid dependency
    • People who are taking, or have recently taken, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)

    Interactions

Paramol may interact with other medicines that cause drowsiness, including sleeping tablets, anti-anxiety medicines, antidepressants, antihistamines, and other opioid painkillers. It can also interact with other medicines containing paracetamol, increasing the risk of overdose. Medicines used to prevent blood clotting (such as warfarin) may also be affected. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Paramol is not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the later stages, as dihydrocodeine may harm the unborn baby or cause withdrawal symptoms in newborns. Dihydrocodeine passes into breast milk and may cause excessive drowsiness in a breastfed baby, so breastfeeding mothers should avoid this medicine. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid drinking alcohol while taking Paramol. Both alcohol and dihydrocodeine cause drowsiness, and combining them increases this effect, raising the risk of accidents and dangerous sedation. Alcohol can also increase the risk of liver damage when taken alongside paracetamol.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Paramol can cause drowsiness and dizziness, particularly when you first start taking it. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery, or carry out any activity that requires you to be fully alert until you know how this medicine affects you. The risk is increased if you also drink alcohol or take other medicines that cause drowsiness.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
