Description
Paramol Tablets – 12 Tablets
Paramol Tablets are a combined pain relief medicine containing paracetamol and dihydrocodeine. They are used to relieve mild to moderate pain, including headaches, migraines, toothache, period pain, and muscular aches.
⸻
How It Works
Paramol contains two active ingredients that work together to relieve pain. Paracetamol blocks chemical signals in the brain that cause pain and fever, while dihydrocodeine is a mild opioid that acts on pain receptors in the brain and spinal cord to provide additional pain relief. Together, they offer more effective pain control than paracetamol alone.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and young people aged 16 years and over: Take 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 8 tablets in any 24-hour period. Do not take for more than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. Paramol Tablets are not suitable for children under 16 years of age. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• Children under 16 years of age
• People who are allergic to paracetamol, dihydrocodeine, or any other ingredient in this product
• People with severe liver or kidney problems
• People with a head injury, raised intracranial pressure, or breathing difficulties
• People with respiratory depression or conditions affecting breathing
• Anyone currently taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 2 weeks of stopping them
• People with a known dependency on opioid medicines
⸻
Interactions
Paramol may interact with other medicines, including sleeping tablets, antidepressants (especially MAOIs and tricyclics), anti-anxiety medicines, antihistamines, other opioid pain relievers, medicines for epilepsy, and warfarin (particularly with regular, prolonged use of paracetamol). Taking other products containing paracetamol at the same time can lead to an accidental overdose — always check the ingredients of any other medicines you take. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Paramol Tablets are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the dihydrocodeine component, which can pass to the baby and cause breathing problems or withdrawal symptoms. Paracetamol alone is generally considered safer during pregnancy, but this combination product should be avoided unless directed by a doctor. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
You should avoid drinking alcohol whilst taking Paramol Tablets. Alcohol increases the sedative effects of dihydrocodeine and may also increase the risk of liver damage associated with paracetamol, particularly if alcohol is consumed regularly or in large amounts.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Paramol Tablets contain dihydrocodeine, which can cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired concentration. You should not drive, operate heavy machinery, or perform any activities requiring full alertness until you know how this medicine affects you. The risk of drowsiness is increased if you also consume alcohol or take other sedative medicines.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
