    Description

    Panadol Extra Advance 500mg/65mg – 14 Tablets

Panadol Extra Advance is a pain relief tablet containing paracetamol and caffeine, used to relieve mild to moderate pain including headaches, migraine, toothache, backache, period pain, and the aches associated with colds and flu. It is designed to be absorbed faster than standard paracetamol and caffeine tablets, helping to get to work on your pain more quickly.

    How It Works

Paracetamol works by blocking the production of chemicals in the body called prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain and fever. The added caffeine (65mg per tablet) has been shown to enhance the pain-relieving effect of paracetamol, making the combination more effective than paracetamol alone. Together, these two ingredients work to provide fast and effective relief from a range of everyday pains.

    Directions for Use

Adults and young people aged 16 years and over: take 2 tablets up to 4 times a day, as needed. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than 8 tablets (4 doses) in any 24-hour period. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Do not give to children under 16 years of age. Do not take for longer than 3 days without speaking to a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 500mg per tablet
    • Caffeine 65mg per tablet

    Possible Side Effects

Panadol Extra Advance is generally well tolerated at recommended doses. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
    • Skin rash or allergic reaction
    • Nausea or stomach upset
    • Dizziness or restlessness (associated with caffeine)
    • Difficulty sleeping (associated with caffeine)
    • Increased heart rate
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to paracetamol, caffeine, or any other ingredient in the tablets
    • Children and young people under 16 years of age
    • People who regularly consume large amounts of alcohol
    • People with severe liver or kidney problems
    • People who are already taking other medicines containing paracetamol or caffeine
    • People with phenylketonuria (PKU)

    Interactions

Paracetamol is found in many other medicines, so it is important not to take Panadol Extra Advance alongside other paracetamol-containing products to avoid exceeding the maximum daily dose. Caffeine may interact with stimulant medications and certain antidepressants (such as MAOIs). Medicines that affect how your liver processes drugs — such as warfarin, some epilepsy medications, and certain antibiotics — may interact with paracetamol. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Paracetamol is generally considered the preferred pain relief option during pregnancy when used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time possible; however, the caffeine content in Panadol Extra Advance means it may not be the most suitable choice during pregnancy. Caffeine can cross the placenta and high caffeine intake has been associated with adverse outcomes in pregnancy. Small amounts of paracetamol and caffeine may pass into breast milk. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

You should avoid or limit alcohol intake whilst taking paracetamol-containing products, as combining alcohol with paracetamol can increase the risk of liver damage. This is particularly important if you drink alcohol regularly or in large quantities. If you are unsure whether it is safe to drink alcohol whilst taking this medicine, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Panadol Extra Advance does not generally cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, the caffeine content may cause restlessness or anxiety in some individuals. If you feel any unusual symptoms after taking this medicine, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel well again.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
