    Description

Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops – 10ml

Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops are specially formulated to relieve red, bloodshot eyes caused by minor irritations such as dust, smoke, eye strain, and chlorine from swimming pools. They help to soothe discomfort and reduce the appearance of redness quickly and effectively.

    How It Works

These eye drops contain two active ingredients that work together to tackle bloodshot eyes. Naphazoline hydrochloride is a decongestant that works by narrowing the small blood vessels in the eye, reducing redness, whilst distilled witch hazel acts as an astringent to help soothe and calm irritated eye tissue, restoring a clearer, more comfortable appearance.

    Directions for Use

For adults and children aged 12 years and over: apply 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye(s) up to 3 times daily. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and place the drops into the pocket formed. Blink gently after application. Do not use for more than 5 consecutive days without seeking medical advice. These drops are not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • People with narrow-angle glaucoma or a history of glaucoma
    • People who wear contact lenses (remove lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting)
    • Anyone with a known allergy to naphazoline hydrochloride, witch hazel, or any other ingredient in the product
    • People with severe cardiovascular disease or high blood pressure (consult your doctor first)
    • People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping them

    Interactions

Naphazoline may interact with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), potentially causing a significant rise in blood pressure, and this combination must be avoided. Caution is also advised if you are taking tricyclic antidepressants or medicines for high blood pressure, as naphazoline may affect how these work. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of these eye drops during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. As naphazoline hydrochloride may be absorbed into the bloodstream in small amounts, caution is advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops and alcohol when used as directed. However, if you feel unwell after using these drops, it is advisable to avoid alcohol and seek medical advice.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

These eye drops may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after application. You should wait until your vision has fully cleared before driving or operating machinery. If blurred vision persists, do not drive and seek medical advice.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, discard the eye drops 28 days after first opening — write the date of opening on the bottle as a reminder. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
