Optrex Allergy Eye Drops are used to relieve the symptoms of allergic eye conditions, such as hay fever and other environmental allergies, including itchy, red, and watery eyes. These drops are suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over.

How It Works
The active ingredient, sodium cromoglicate, is a mast cell stabiliser. It works by preventing the cells in your eyes from releasing the chemicals (such as histamine) that trigger allergic reactions, helping to reduce itching, redness, and watering before or after exposure to an allergen.

Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 6 years and over: instil 1 to 2 drops into each affected eye, four times a day. The drops work best when used regularly, even when symptoms are not present. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid, and apply the drops without touching the dropper tip to your eye. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Possible Side Effects

Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• People who are allergic to sodium cromoglicate or any other ingredient in the formulation
• Children under 6 years of age
• People who wear soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses — remove lenses before use and wait at least 30 minutes before reinserting
• People with eye infections or other serious eye conditions — consult a doctor before use

Interactions
Sodium cromoglicate eye drops are not known to interact significantly with other medicines when applied topically to the eye. If you are using other eye drops or eye ointments, leave at least 5 minutes between each product, applying ointments last. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Sodium cromoglicate is not well absorbed into the bloodstream when used as eye drops, which reduces the risk of systemic effects. However, the safety of this product during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Optrex Allergy Eye Drops and alcohol. These drops are applied topically to the eye and are not expected to be affected by alcohol consumption.

Driving and Operating Machinery
These eye drops may cause temporary blurring of vision immediately after application. You should wait until your vision is completely clear before driving or operating machinery. Do not drive or use tools or machines if your vision is affected.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, discard the drops after 28 days. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
