Description
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops 5ml
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops contain sodium cromoglicate and are used to relieve the eye symptoms of allergies, including hayfever — such as itchy, watery, red, and puffy eyes. They are suitable for adults and children aged 6 years and over.
⸻
How It Works
Sodium cromoglicate works by stabilising certain cells in the eye called mast cells, which are involved in allergic reactions. By preventing these cells from releasing histamine and other chemicals, it helps to stop the itching, redness, and irritation that allergies cause. It works best when used regularly, even before symptoms start.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 6 years and over: instil 1–2 drops into each affected eye four times a day. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻

Interactions
No significant drug interactions with other medications have been established for sodium cromoglicate eye drops used topically. However, if you are using other eye drops or eye preparations, allow at least 5 minutes between applications. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
The safety of sodium cromoglicate eye drops during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. Because the medicine is applied topically to the eye, systemic absorption is very low; however, caution is still advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There is no known interaction between Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops and alcohol. This medicine is applied directly to the eye and is not taken by mouth, so alcohol consumption is not expected to affect how it works.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops may cause temporary blurring of vision immediately after application. Do not drive or operate machinery until your vision has fully cleared. This effect is short-lived and typically resolves within a few minutes.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once opened, discard the eye drops after 28 days, even if some product remains. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
