Nasacort Allergy Nasal Spray – 30 Dose Pack

Nasacort Allergy Nasal Spray contains triamcinolone acetonide, a corticosteroid used to relieve the symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis (hay fever and nasal allergies). It helps to ease sneezing, itching, a blocked or runny nose caused by allergens such as pollen, dust, or pet dander.

    How It Works

Triamcinolone acetonide is a corticosteroid that works by reducing inflammation in the lining of the nose. When you are exposed to an allergen, your body releases chemicals that cause swelling, irritation, and excess mucus — triamcinolone helps to block this inflammatory response, relieving congestion and discomfort. It works best when used regularly, as it can take a few days to reach its full effect.

    Directions for Use

For adults and children aged 18 and over: the usual starting dose is 2 sprays (55 mcg each) into each nostril once daily (total daily dose 220 mcg). Once symptoms are well controlled, the dose may be reduced to 1 spray into each nostril once daily. Shake the bottle gently before use and blow your nose before applying. The spray is not licensed for use in children under 18 as a P medicine without medical supervision. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Interactions

Nasacort is generally not associated with significant drug interactions when used as directed at recommended doses. However, combining it with other corticosteroids (such as oral prednisolone, inhaled steroids, or topical steroid creams) may increase the risk of systemic corticosteroid side effects. Certain antifungal medicines (e.g., ketoconazole) and HIV medicines (e.g., ritonavir) can increase corticosteroid levels in the body. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of triamcinolone acetonide nasal spray during pregnancy has not been fully established, and it should only be used if considered necessary and under medical supervision. It is not known whether triamcinolone passes into breast milk in significant amounts. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Nasacort Allergy Nasal Spray and alcohol. However, it is always sensible to drink alcohol in moderation, particularly if you are managing an ongoing health condition.
