    Description

Molaxole Powder for Oral Solution – 30 Sachets

Molaxole is a laxative medicine used to treat constipation in adults. Each sachet is dissolved in water to make a drink that helps to relieve constipation and restore regular bowel movements.

    How It Works

Molaxole contains macrogol 3350, which works by drawing water into the bowel and softening the stool. This makes stools easier to pass and helps to get your bowels moving more regularly. It is not absorbed into your body, so it works entirely within the gut.

    Directions for Use

The usual dose for adults and children aged 12 years and over is 1 to 3 sachets per day, dissolved in water and taken at mealtimes. Each sachet should be dissolved in a full glass (approximately 125 ml) of water and drunk straight away. Treatment should not be used for more than 2 weeks without speaking to a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Macrogol 3350 — 13.125 g per sachet
    • Sodium bicarbonate — 178.5 mg per sachet
    • Sodium chloride — 350.7 mg per sachet
    • Potassium chloride — 46.6 mg per sachet

    Possible Side Effects

    • Bloating or wind
    • Stomach pain or cramps
    • Feeling sick (nausea)
    • Diarrhoea
    • Vomiting
    • Allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching (rare)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People who are allergic to macrogol 3350 or any other ingredient in this product
    • People with a blocked or perforated bowel (intestinal obstruction or perforation)
    • People with a paralysed or poorly functioning bowel (ileus)
    • People with a condition causing a severely dilated colon (toxic megacolon)
    • People with severe inflammatory bowel conditions such as Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis that are not well controlled

    Interactions

Molaxole may reduce the absorption of other medicines taken by mouth at the same time, as it can speed up the movement of the bowel. It is advisable to take other medicines at a different time to Molaxole where possible. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Macrogol 3350 is not significantly absorbed into the body, and Molaxole is generally considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding when needed for constipation. However, it is always best to seek professional advice before starting any new medicine during this time. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known interaction between Molaxole and alcohol. However, it is generally advisable to drink plenty of water while taking this medicine and to maintain a sensible approach to alcohol consumption as part of a healthy lifestyle.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Molaxole does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. You can continue with normal activities while taking this medicine.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place. Once dissolved in water, the solution should be used immediately. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
