Lyclear Dermal Cream contains permethrin 5% and is used to treat scabies (a skin infestation caused by tiny mites) and crab lice (pubic lice). It is a topical cream applied directly to the skin to kill the mites or lice and their eggs.

How It Works

Permethrin is a synthetic insecticide that works by disrupting the nerve cell activity of mites and lice, causing paralysis and death. It targets the parasites on contact, helping to eliminate both the infestation and the eggs, relieving the itching and discomfort associated with scabies and crab lice.

Directions for Use

For scabies: apply the cream to cool, dry skin over the entire body from the chin downwards, including between the fingers and toes, under nails, and in skin folds. Leave on for 8–12 hours (usually overnight) then wash off. A single application is usually sufficient, but a second application may be recommended after 7 days if necessary. For crab lice: apply to the affected area and surrounding skin, leave for 10 minutes, then rinse off. This medicine is suitable for adults and children aged 2 months and over; seek medical advice for infants under 2 months. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Possible Side Effects

• Mild burning, stinging, or tingling sensation on the skin after application
• Itching (which may temporarily worsen after application)
• Redness or rash at the site of application
• Skin numbness or temporary changes in skin sensation
• Swelling of the skin at the treated area

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• People who are allergic to permethrin, any pyrethroid or pyrethrin insecticide, or any other ingredient in the cream
• People who are allergic to chrysanthemums or plants from the Asteraceae/Compositae family
• Infants under 2 months of age (unless specifically advised by a doctor)
• Do not use on broken, infected, or severely inflamed skin without medical advice

Interactions

Lyclear Dermal Cream is applied to the skin and is not known to have significant interactions with other medicines when used as directed. However, avoid using other topical skin preparations on the same area at the same time without seeking advice first. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

The safety of permethrin during pregnancy has not been fully established; it should only be used during pregnancy if clearly necessary and under medical supervision. Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not freeze the cream. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
