Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief – 24 Capsules

Lemsip Max Day & Night Cold & Flu Relief capsules provide round-the-clock relief from the symptoms of colds and flu, including headache, sore throat, fever, and nasal congestion. The pack contains separate day and night capsules, so you can manage your symptoms effectively at any time of day.

    How It Works

The day capsules contain paracetamol (a painkiller and fever reducer), phenylephrine hydrochloride (a decongestant that helps clear a blocked nose), and caffeine (which enhances the pain-relieving effect of paracetamol and helps keep you alert). The night capsules swap caffeine for promethazine hydrochloride, an antihistamine that eases cold symptoms, calms a cough, and helps you get a restful night’s sleep.

    Directions for Use

This medicine is suitable for adults and young people aged 16 and over. Take 2 day capsules up to four times a day (every 4–6 hours) during the daytime, and 2 night capsules at bedtime. Do not exceed 2 night capsules in 24 hours. Do not take more than 8 day capsules in 24 hours. Swallow capsules whole with water. Do not take for more than 5 days without speaking to a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 16 years of age
    • People who are allergic to paracetamol, phenylephrine, promethazine, caffeine, or any other ingredient in the capsules
    • People taking other medicines containing paracetamol or decongestants
    • People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have taken them in the last 14 days
    • People with severe high blood pressure, heart disease, or an overactive thyroid
    • People with certain conditions affecting the liver or kidneys
    • People with epilepsy, glaucoma, or difficulty passing urine (e.g. enlarged prostate)
    • People with phenylketonuria (PKU)

    Interactions

This medicine may interact with antidepressants (particularly MAOIs and tricyclics), blood pressure medicines, other cold and flu remedies containing paracetamol or decongestants, anticoagulants such as warfarin, sedatives and sleeping tablets, and medicines for epilepsy. Caffeine in the day capsules may interact with other stimulants or certain antibiotics (such as ciprofloxacin). Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to the presence of phenylephrine and promethazine. While paracetamol alone is generally considered safe in pregnancy at the lowest effective dose, the combination of ingredients in these capsules means the product should be avoided. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol whilst taking this medicine. Alcohol increases the sedative effect of promethazine in the night capsules, making drowsiness significantly worse and potentially dangerous. Alcohol can also increase the risk of liver damage when taken alongside paracetamol.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

The night capsules contain promethazine, which causes drowsiness and can significantly impair your ability to drive or operate machinery — do not drive after taking the night capsules. The day capsules contain caffeine and are less likely to cause drowsiness, but phenylephrine may occasionally cause dizziness; if affected, do not drive. Always assess how this medicine affects you before getting behind the wheel.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
