    Description

Lemsip Max Cold & Flu – 16 Capsules

Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Capsules are a dual-action remedy designed to relieve the symptoms of cold and flu in adults and children aged 12 and over. They help ease headache, sore throat, fever, blocked nose, and sinus congestion so you can get on with your day.

    How It Works

These capsules contain two active ingredients that work together. Paracetamol is a well-established painkiller and fever reducer that helps relieve headache, sore throat, and high temperature. Phenylephrine hydrochloride is a decongestant that narrows the blood vessels in the nasal passages, reducing swelling and helping you breathe more easily through a blocked nose.

    Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 16 and over: take 2 capsules every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Do not take more than 4 doses (8 capsules) in any 24-hour period. Children aged 12 to 15 years: take 1 capsule every 4 to 6 hours, up to a maximum of 4 doses in 24 hours. Swallow the capsules whole with water. Do not use for more than 5 days without seeking medical advice. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Paracetamol 500 mg per capsule
    • Phenylephrine hydrochloride 6.1 mg per capsule

    Possible Side Effects

    • Nausea or stomach upset
    • Raised blood pressure
    • Rapid or irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
    • Difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
    • Headache
    • Skin rash or allergic reactions (uncommon)
    • In rare cases, serious skin reactions — stop use immediately if a rash develops

If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • Children under 12 years of age
    • Anyone allergic to paracetamol, phenylephrine, or any other ingredient in the capsules
    • People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or who have taken them in the last 14 days
    • People with severe high blood pressure (hypertension) or severe heart disease
    • People taking other paracetamol-containing products
    • People with an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
    • Those taking tricyclic antidepressants or beta-blockers

    Interactions

Paracetamol interacts with medicines such as warfarin (if taken regularly) and other paracetamol-containing cold or flu remedies — taking them together can lead to accidental overdose. Phenylephrine can interact with MAOIs, tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, and other decongestants, potentially causing dangerous increases in blood pressure. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Paracetamol is generally considered the first-choice painkiller during pregnancy when used at the lowest effective dose for the shortest time needed; however, the phenylephrine component means these capsules are not recommended during pregnancy. Phenylephrine is also not recommended while breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

Drinking alcohol while taking paracetamol-containing medicines is not recommended, as it can increase the risk of liver damage, particularly if you drink regularly or in larger quantities. It is best to avoid alcohol whilst taking Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Capsules.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

Lemsip Max Cold & Flu Capsules do not contain antihistamines or other sedating ingredients, so they are not expected to cause drowsiness. However, cold and flu symptoms themselves can affect your concentration, so use your own judgement before driving or operating heavy machinery.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
