Description
Infacol Colic Relief Simeticone – 55ml
Infacol Colic Relief is a medicine used to relieve the symptoms of infant colic and griping pain, which are often caused by trapped wind in babies. It contains simeticone, an antiflatulent that helps to reduce uncomfortable gas bubbles in your baby’s tummy.
⸻
How It Works
Simeticone works by bringing together the tiny gas bubbles trapped in your baby’s digestive system, combining them into larger bubbles that are easier to pass naturally. This helps to relieve the bloating, discomfort, and pain associated with colic and wind.
⸻
Directions for Use
Infacol is suitable for use in babies from birth onwards. Give 0.5 ml (one full dropper) before each feed. The dropper provided makes it easy to place the dose directly into your baby’s mouth. Infacol can be used at every feed, and best results are often seen after several days of continued use. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Simeticone 40 mg per 1 ml (each 0.5 ml dose contains 20 mg simeticone)
⸻
Possible Side Effects
Infacol is generally very well tolerated. Reported side effects are uncommon but may include:
• Skin rash or allergic reaction (rare)
• Loose stools or changes in bowel habits (uncommon)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• Babies known to be allergic to simeticone or any other ingredient in Infacol
• Do not use if the seal is broken before first use
• If your baby’s symptoms do not improve after a few days of regular use, or if you are concerned about your baby’s health, consult a doctor
⸻
Interactions
Simeticone is not significantly absorbed into the body, so interactions with other medicines are considered to be very unlikely. No clinically significant drug interactions have been identified. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Infacol is given to babies and is not intended for use in adults. As simeticone acts locally in the gut and is not absorbed into the body, it is not applicable in the context of a breastfeeding mother taking this product. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
Infacol is a medicine intended for infants and alcohol is not relevant to this product. Do not add alcohol or any other substance to Infacol before giving it to your baby.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Infacol is administered to babies and is not intended for adult use. Simeticone is not absorbed into the bloodstream, so it has no effect on the ability to drive or operate machinery.
⸻
Storage
Store Infacol below 25°C. Do not refrigerate. Once opened, use within 28 days and discard any remaining product after this time. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
