    Description

    HuxD3 Colecalciferol 20000IU (500mcg) Vitamin D3 – 30 Capsules

HuxD3 Colecalciferol 20000IU contains a high-strength form of vitamin D3 (colecalciferol), a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for maintaining healthy bones, teeth, and muscles. It is used to treat or prevent vitamin D deficiency in adults, particularly in those who have been diagnosed with low vitamin D levels by a healthcare professional.

    How It Works

Vitamin D3 (colecalciferol) is the natural form of vitamin D that your body makes when your skin is exposed to sunlight. Once taken, it is converted in the liver and kidneys into its active form, which helps your body absorb calcium and phosphate from food. This supports strong, healthy bones and normal muscle function, and helps prevent conditions such as osteomalacia (softening of the bones) and rickets.

    Directions for Use

HuxD3 20000IU is a high-strength supplement intended for adults only. It is typically taken as a single capsule once a week, or as directed by your doctor or healthcare professional based on your individual vitamin D levels. The capsules should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food. This product is not suitable for children unless specifically advised by a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    Possible Side Effects

Side effects are uncommon when taken as directed, but may include:
    • Nausea or stomach upset
    • Constipation or diarrhoea
    • Headache
    • Fatigue or weakness
    • High levels of calcium in the blood (hypercalcaemia) — symptoms include excessive thirst, frequent urination, confusion, or muscle weakness
    • High levels of calcium in the urine (hypercalciuria)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

    • People with hypercalcaemia (too much calcium in the blood)
    • People with hypercalciuria (too much calcium in the urine)
    • People with kidney stones (nephrolithiasis or nephrocalcinosis)
    • People with conditions that cause raised calcium or vitamin D levels, such as sarcoidosis or certain cancers

    Interactions

Certain medicines can interact with colecalciferol, including:
    • Thiazide diuretics (water tablets) — may increase the risk of high calcium levels
    • Cardiac glycosides such as digoxin — high calcium levels can increase the risk of side effects
    • Orlistat (weight-loss medicine) — may reduce the absorption of vitamin D
    • Cholestyramine or colestipol (cholesterol-lowering medicines) — may reduce absorption of vitamin D
    • Anticonvulsants (e.g. phenytoin, carbamazepine) or rifampicin — may increase the breakdown of vitamin D, reducing its effectiveness

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Vitamin D is important during pregnancy and breastfeeding; however, this product contains a very high dose (20000IU) and must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical supervision, as excessive vitamin D can be harmful to the developing baby. Standard lower-dose vitamin D supplements are generally recommended during pregnancy. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

    Alcohol

There is no known direct interaction between colecalciferol and alcohol. However, regular heavy alcohol consumption can impair the body’s ability to absorb and utilise vitamin D effectively. It is advisable to drink alcohol in moderation whilst taking this supplement.

    Driving and Operating Machinery

HuxD3 Colecalciferol 20000IU is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you experience any unusual symptoms such as dizziness or confusion (which could indicate high calcium levels), do not drive and seek medical advice.

    Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the capsules in the original packaging to protect them from moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
