Description
Gengigel Gingival Gel – 20ml
Gengigel Gingival Gel is a topical oral gel used to help soothe and protect the gums. It is used to support the healing of inflamed, sore, or bleeding gums, including in conditions such as gingivitis and periodontitis, as well as following dental procedures.
⸻
How It Works
Gengigel contains hyaluronic acid (also known as hyaluronan), a substance that occurs naturally in the body’s tissues. When applied to the gums, it forms a protective, moisture-retaining layer over the affected area, helping to reduce inflammation, support tissue repair, and promote the healing of damaged gum tissue.
⸻
Directions for Use
Apply a small amount of gel directly to the affected gum area using a clean fingertip or a soft toothbrush. Use 3 to 4 times daily, ideally after meals and before bedtime. Gently massage the gel into the gums and leave in place — do not rinse the mouth immediately after application. Gengigel is suitable for adults and children; however, use in young children should be supervised by an adult. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.
⸻
Active Ingredients
• Hyaluronic acid (hyaluronan) 0.2% w/w
⸻
Possible Side Effects
Gengigel is generally very well tolerated. Side effects are uncommon but may include:
• Mild temporary irritation or sensitivity at the site of application
• Localised redness or discomfort in the mouth
• Allergic reaction (rare) — signs may include swelling, rash, or itching
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
⸻
Who Should Not Take This Medicine
• People with a known allergy to hyaluronic acid or any other ingredient in the gel
• Do not use if you have a known hypersensitivity to any of the excipients listed in the patient information leaflet
• Refer to the patient information leaflet for full details of contraindications
⸻
Interactions
Gengigel is applied topically to the gums and is not known to interact with other medicines when used as directed. However, if you are using other oral gels, antiseptic mouthwashes, or dental treatments at the same time, allow a short interval between applications to ensure the gel is not removed before it can act. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.
⸻
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Gengigel Gingival Gel is applied topically to the gums and is not expected to pose a risk during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as systemic absorption is considered to be minimal. However, as with all medicines, caution is advised. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
⸻
Alcohol
There are no known interactions between Gengigel Gingival Gel and alcohol. However, alcohol-containing drinks may irritate already inflamed or sensitive gum tissue, so it is advisable to avoid alcohol shortly after applying the gel to allow it to work effectively.
⸻
Driving and Operating Machinery
Gengigel Gingival Gel is applied topically to the gums and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. It does not cause drowsiness or impair concentration.
⸻
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Once opened, use within the period indicated on the packaging. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
