Description
Gaviscon Peppermint Chewable Tablets
Gaviscon Peppermint Chewable Tablets are an antacid and alginate medicine used to relieve the symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, and gastric reflux, including the discomfort associated with reflux during pregnancy.
⸻
How It Works
Each tablet contains two types of active ingredient that work together. The alginates (sodium alginate and potassium bicarbonate) react with stomach acid to form a thick, gel-like raft that floats on top of the stomach contents, helping to prevent acid from rising into the oesophagus (food pipe). The calcium carbonate acts as an antacid to quickly neutralise excess stomach acid, providing fast relief from discomfort.
⸻
Directions for Use
Adults and children aged 12 years and over: chew 2 to 4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day. The tablets should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. Do not take more than 16 tablets in any 24-hour period. Gaviscon Peppermint Chewable Tablets are not recommended for children under 12 years unless directed by a doctor. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
