Fybogel Lemon is a natural fibre supplement containing ispaghula husk, used to relieve constipation and help maintain regularity. It comes in a pleasant lemon-flavoured powder that you mix with water to make a refreshing drink.

How It Works

Ispaghula husk is a natural plant fibre that absorbs water in your gut, swelling to form a soft, bulky mass. This gently stimulates the bowel to move, making stools easier to pass without causing cramping or straining.

Directions for Use

Adults and children aged 12 and over: stir the contents of one sachet into a full glass (150–200 ml) of cold water and drink immediately. Take one sachet twice daily, preferably after meals. Children under 12 should only use this product under medical supervision. It is important to drink plenty of fluids throughout the day while using Fybogel. Possible Side Effects

• Bloating or wind, particularly in the first few days of use
• Abdominal discomfort or cramping
• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, difficulty breathing) — rare but possible
• Difficulty swallowing if not taken with enough water

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• People with difficulty swallowing or throat problems
• Those with a sudden change in bowel habits lasting more than two weeks without speaking to a doctor first
• People with bowel obstruction or narrowing of the bowel
• Anyone who is unable to maintain adequate fluid intake
• Those with phenylketonuria (this product contains aspartame)
• People with known hypersensitivity to ispaghula husk or any other ingredient in the product

Interactions

Ispaghula husk may reduce the absorption of some medicines, including certain heart medicines such as digoxin and carbamazepine. It is advisable to take other medicines at least 30–60 minutes before taking Fybogel, or at a different time of day. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Fybogel is generally considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as ispaghula husk works locally in the gut and is not significantly absorbed into the body. However, it is always best to seek individual advice before starting any new medicine. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

There are no known interactions between Fybogel Lemon and alcohol. However, alcohol can contribute to dehydration, which may worsen constipation, so it is advisable to drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Fybogel Lemon does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
