Doublebase Gel is an emollient (moisturising) treatment used to soothe, soften, and hydrate dry, itchy, or scaly skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, ichthyosis, and other dry skin conditions. It is suitable for adults, children, and infants.

How It Works

Doublebase Gel contains two emollient ingredients — isopropyl myristate and liquid paraffin — which work by forming a protective layer on the surface of the skin. This layer helps to lock in moisture, reduce water loss, and restore the skin’s natural barrier, leaving skin feeling softer and more comfortable.

Directions for Use

Apply Doublebase Gel directly to the affected areas of skin as often as needed, or as directed by your doctor. Smooth the gel gently into the skin in the direction of hair growth to reduce the risk of blocking hair follicles. It can also be used as a soap substitute during washing — apply to wet or dry skin, then rinse off. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. Possible Side Effects

Doublebase Gel is generally well tolerated, but some people may experience:
• Skin irritation or redness at the site of application
• A burning or stinging sensation on application
• Folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles) — less common, usually if the gel is applied against the direction of hair growth
• Allergic skin reactions (rare)

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

• People who are allergic to isopropyl myristate, liquid paraffin, or any other ingredient in the gel
• Do not apply to broken, infected, or severely inflamed skin without first consulting a doctor
• Do not use on areas of known skin infection without appropriate treatment

Interactions

Doublebase Gel is applied to the skin and is not known to have significant interactions with other medicines. However, emollients can affect the absorption of other topical (skin) treatments applied to the same area — leave a gap of several minutes between applying Doublebase Gel and other topical products. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Doublebase Gel is considered suitable for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as it acts locally on the skin and is not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream. If using on the breast area, ensure it is fully rinsed off before breastfeeding to avoid the baby ingesting any gel. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.

Alcohol

There are no known interactions between Doublebase Gel and alcohol. This product is applied to the skin and is not taken by mouth, so alcohol consumption does not affect how this medicine works.

Driving and Operating Machinery

Doublebase Gel does not cause drowsiness and is not expected to affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. There are no known restrictions in this regard.

Storage

Store Doublebase Gel below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct heat and sunlight. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
