    Description

    Docusol Paediatric Solution – 125ml

Docusol Paediatric Solution contains docusate sodium, a gentle laxative used to relieve constipation in children. It works by softening stools, making them easier and more comfortable to pass.

    How It Works

Docusate sodium is a stool softener. It works by allowing water and fats to mix into the stool, which softens it and makes it easier to pass without straining. It does not stimulate the bowel to contract, so it tends to be gentle and well tolerated in children.

    Directions for Use

Docusol Paediatric Solution is intended for use in children. The usual doses are as follows:
    • Children aged 6 months to 2 years: 12.5 mg (2.5 ml) three times daily
    • Children aged 2 to 12 years: 12.5 mg to 25 mg (2.5 ml to 5 ml) three times daily
    • Children aged 12 years and over: 25 mg to 50 mg (5 ml to 10 ml) three times daily
The solution can be given in milk or fruit juice to improve the taste. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Always read the patient information leaflet before use. If you are unsure about the correct dose, speak to your PillSorted pharmacist.

    Active Ingredients

    • Docusate sodium 12.5 mg per 2.5 ml

    • Skin rash (rare)
If you experience any serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately.

Who Should Not Take This Medicine

Do not use Docusol Paediatric Solution if the child:
    • Is allergic to docusate sodium or any other ingredient in the product
    • Has a blocked or obstructed bowel (intestinal obstruction)
    • Has nausea or vomiting alongside constipation without a known cause
    • Is under 6 months of age

    Interactions

Docusate sodium may interact with certain other medicines. In particular, it may increase the absorption of some other drugs taken at the same time, which could affect how they work. It is advisable to separate administration of other medicines where possible. Tell your PillSorted pharmacist or doctor about all medicines you are currently taking, including herbal remedies and supplements.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Docusol Paediatric Solution is formulated for use in children and is not intended for use in adults. Speak to your doctor or PillSorted pharmacist before use if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
